SUNY New Paltz Study Abroad program in Melbourne, Australia is conducted by Victoria University, a fully accredited university that issues all transcripts. Students are expected to carry a full-time academic load (12-15 undergraduate credits per semester) and will be offered variety of courses to choose from toward their degree. Victoria University is best known as one of Australia's most innovative institutions of higher education. Study Abroad students are usually placed at one of six higher Education campuses. Staff and students from all over the world provide the greatest international mix found at any Australian university. There are four major faculties: Arts, Business, Engineering, and Sciences. The Victoria University Student Union offers opportunities to join over 50 clubs and societies, including academic, sporting, religious, and other personal interest groups. Trips and tours are organized each semester at student prices and provide great opportunities to meet and mingle with your fellow Aussie classmates for a day or even a few weeks. From swimming with the dolphins to scuba diving to excursions into Australia's famous 'outback', the Student Union offers you the opportunity to add a tough of adventure to your university life.
Highlights:
College credits: Students are required to take 12-15 undergraduate credits per semester. Qualification: (The Program Is Offered To Students Attending American Accredited Universities And Colleges) Students who are Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors at the time of application and in good academic standing are eligible. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. Accommodation: Victoria University owns and operates the Student Village, a residential facility catering for 600 students. Situated on acres of parkland, the Village is close to most campuses and is only 5.6 miles from the center of Melbourne. Good public transportation operates in the area. The Village offers an extensive variety of recreational facilities as well as computing and library facilities. A team of resident staff provides academic advice and personal assistance. Orientation and Field Trips: The orientation program provides a broad introduction to the university and usually includes a tour of the city as well as a field trip to one of Melbourne's many popular attractions. Financial Aid: Students may apply for financial aid at their home campus financial aid office. Financial aid deferrals may be applied toward tuition and program fee only.
