Description: SUNY New Paltz Study Abroad program in Wellington, New Zealand is conducted by Victoria University of Wellington, a fully accredited university that issues all transcripts. All students are expected to carry a full-time academic load (12 or more credit hours per semester) and will be offered a variety of courses to choose from toward their degree.

Victoria University of Wellington combines the benefits of a long and distinguished tradition of academic excellence with innovation and a strong sense of commitment to serving the needs of students and the community in the new millennium. It also combines the advantages of an ideal size for a university with a superb location in the country's political, commercial and cultural capital.

Currently the fourth largest of New Zealand's seven universities, Victoria University of Wellington has approximately 15,000 students form more than 50 countries. Wellington is also the cultural center of New Zealand. It is home to the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company, the New Zealand School of Dance, the New Zealand Drama School, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, whose principals and players are engaged as tutors and often perform at Victoria.

Students must maintain a full time credit load each semester taking 12-18 undergraduate credits.

Qualifications
(The Program Is Offered To Students Attending American Accredited Universities And Colleges)
Students who are sophomores, juniors, and seniors at the time of application, with a 2.7 GPA or higher, are eligible to apply.

Housing
Students are housed at Halls of Residence at Victoria University. The Halls of Residence provide students with support, facilities for leisure, recreation and study, as well as opportunities to make new friends. Living in a Hall gives the student a unique opportunity to enhance his/her experience abroad while being an integral part of the University.

Language Instruction
Classes at Victoria University of Wellington are taught in English.

Financial Aid
Students may apply for financial aid at their home campus financial aid office. Financial aid deferrals may be applied toward tuition and program fee only.

Health Insurance
All students must have approved insurance coverage while studying abroad.
