One Year Interior Design Course-Study Programme Cultural Area. Approach to Design. Determination and classification of all designing stages, from the creative ideas to the final product, while highlighting the intellectual process that encompasses researches, ideas and the routes of human sight. Twentieth-Century Art. Historical and critical analysis of the main modern and contemporary artistic movements in relation to the evolution of culture and society. History of Architecture and Design. This course includes an historical digression from the 50s to the present day and an analysis of the aesthetic production of each decade. The second part of this course contemplates an in-depth study about the use of fabrics for interior design. Basic Italian Language. Basic Italian aimed at helping to fit into the Italian background. Tools Area. Modeling Laboratory. Laboratory activities targeted at teaching the techniques for building study and presentation models in materials such as polystyrene, cardboard, foam core or balsa wood. Geometrical Design. Basic geometrical constructions, descriptive geometry, orthogonal projections, axonometry and perspective. Real Life Drawing. Free-hand drawing, principles of visual perception and proportion. Analysis of volumes, rotations and permeations and their representation by means of quick techniques. Rendering. Qualifying course about representation techniques targeted at monitoring all possible communication modes for a project. Hands-on simulation of the submission of a course paper to a client. Economics Area. Marketing and Business Culture. This course provides the basics for a proper understanding of the business dynamics involved in defining the strategies for product positioning and communication. The theoretical contribution will be supplemented with appropriate case histories. Technology Area. Ergonomics Training about this essential factor for the definition of a project. Analysis of the relationship occurring between man and his surroundings, between man and machines and between man and everyday objects. C.M.F.T. Colour Material Texture and Technologies. This preparatory course about colors, materials, textures and technologies provides our students with a hands-on analysis of the main issues involved in the use of such techniques. Materials Technology. An overview of natural and artificial materials and their transformation processes. Production technologies for industrial manufactures. This course is supplemented with lectures held by qualified businesses. Light Laboratories. Knowledge of the theory of light and technique of lighting. Analysis of the light source. Light-engineering calculation and the various types of light sources. Information Technology Area Corel Draw - Adobe Photoshop. A course about the use of two of the most important software programs for computer design. Computer AutoCAD. An overview of AutoCAD, the industry-leading software, to be intended as an introduction to a later deeper knowledge of computer-aided design. Design Area. Design Methodology. This course explains the most important guidelines for obtaining a graphic rendering of an environment through the learning of conventions and their proper use. This course aims at introducing our students to design methodology by means of the following outstanding stages: survey of the existing area, analysis of the customer's needs, collection of the proper materials and design synthesis. Design 1. Home design - Development of a project for reinterpreting and renovating a home environment after carefully analyzing the behavioral modifications occurring in it. Design 2. Shop design - Analysis of the issues related to product/service display and communication at a selling outlet or corner. Design of an expository space taking great care of lighting, materials, colors and layout. Visits and Meetings. Visiting Professor. Topic-specific meetings with professionals and specialists sharing their own design experiences in the most diverse fields. Tours of Showrooms and Industry-Leading Businesses. Visits to the most important showrooms, companies, manufacturing plants and architectural sites. Guided Tours. One-day visits at shows, fairs and expositions.
