Description:
Paris. The word alone is evocative-of artists and intellectuals, queens and guillotines, cafe's and haute couture, boulevards and gothic spires, existentialists and expatriates, Revolution and Resistance. Students in the summer Paris Program will be constantly discovering, learning about, and exploring the reality behind the romantic word. Paris is different. And precisely this-living another culture's difference in language and daily life, is one of the enduring gifts of study abroad. In this intellectually stimulating city, students may develop their interest in French culture through the Intensive French Program, the Liberal Studies and Business Program, and the Graduate Law-Related Program.
Highlights:
Students in all programs participate as a group in excursions to cathedrals (Notre Dame and Chartres), to chateaux outside Paris (Fountainbleau or Vaux-le-Vicomte), and to other sites such as the Louvre, Balzac's house, Monet's home in Giverny, or the Loire Valley. For students' own explorations, the city is an inexhaustible resource of fascinating, course-related museums and landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Jeu de Paumes museum, Champs Elysees, and Arc de Triomphe. Students are housed in single rooms in City Universitaire, an international campus built and maintained by countries from all over the world. All rooms have telephones, with baths and a kitchen on each floor of the dormitory. Students may also take inexpensive, three-course meals in the university dining rooms. Note: housing arrangements are subject to change.
