London's innumerable treasures are well known, but one is less so: In the midst of this fascinating city, Florida State University has offered students a small liberal arts college atmosphere for thirty-one years. Small classes, American and British teacher-scholars, n historic setting in the heart of the Bloomsbury district-the FSU London Study Center is a benchmark program for study abroad. The university owns its London facilities, a seven-building complex registered on the British National Heritage list. A major portion of the completely renovated Study Center dates to the seventeenth century. Today, students enjoy the historic architecture along with comfortable flats (apartments), classrooms, a lecture hall/theatre, a library, and a computer lab with Internet connections.
Highlights:
Excursions Study Centre excursions include day trips to places such as Stonehenge, Bath, Oxford, Brighton and Stratford upon Avon, and in the Fall and Spring, a 4 day excursion to Paris. A Monday-Thursday class schedule, as well as several long weekends and a 10 day break, provide plenty of opportunities for personal travel. Housing Located in historic Bloomsbury, a stones throw from the West End, Theatre District, and housed in a row of seventeenth-century townhouses, the London Study Centre combines modern convenience with historic setting. Consisting of fully self-contained and furnished apartments, the Centre, amongst other amenities, boasts 24-hour wireless connectivity, two computer labs, a library, free laundry facilities, and a student lounge. Flats include shared bedrooms, bathroom with shower, sitting room with TV and well-equipped kitchen. If these spaces are filled, students will be housed in comparable accommodations within central London.
