European Master Course - Renewable Energy
Belgium
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: inquire for exact dates
Description:
The original aspect of this course is that it will be taught at nine prestigious universities across Europe. The course is split in three terms: in the first one the student learns the fundamentals of all renewable energies technologies. In the second semester he or she specialises in one particular type of energy (except hydro energy). The third module is devoted to the realisation of a project, either in partnership with a company or with an Institute. The course is focused on the production of electricity from renewables. Hence it is technical and requires good foundations in maths and basic engineering principles. However, the student is not expected to hold a degree in engineering. Relevant work experience or technical/scientific degree other than engineering is acceptable. The course is taught at nine different institutes in Europe. For the first semester the student can choose his or her institute from Loughborough University (England), Ecole des Mines in Nice (France), and Zaragoza University (Spain). The modules will be taught in English, French and Spanish respectively. For the specialisation modules, the participating institutes are University of Corsica (Socio-economic issues), Kassel University (hybrid systems), University of Athens (solar energy in the built environment), University of Northumbria with input from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Photovoltaics), National Technical University of Athens (Wind Power) and Zaragoza (Biomass). These modules will all be taught in English.
Highlights:
The first term will run from October to December, plus January for the exams. The second one will be from February to May. The last part will be from June to September. The student will be registered with the university at which he or she will study the core module. Lecturers will be the ones that already teaches their own course (each of the 9 participating institutes already run their own course related to renewable energy) plus external visitors/lecturers.
