Summer Intensive Programs
Spain
Term: Summer
Dates: June, July, August, September
Description:
The intensive summer courses are designed to be a quick and efficient way to learn the language. Classroom teaching is combined with a wide-ranging programme of activities that encourage student involvement in Spanish culture and life.
Highlights:
Courses are held in an open and friendly environment on the new Miguel Delibes University campus. Students from all five continents take part in our courses to learn Spanish. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic staff, and the Language Centre itself is equipped with the latest facilities and audiovisual means required to make language learning easy and enjoyable. A total of twenty classes per week are held in the mornings from Monday to Friday. Basic subjects include Grammar, Oral Expression, and Spanish Culture. Various levels ranging from beginners to advanced are available, depending on which students may attend classes on literature or art history. The groups are small as we feel it is important for our students to receive personal attention. Students receive a student card providing them with access to university installations as well as sports facilities. Trips to internationally known places, most of which are World Heritage sites, are arranged for Saturdays. These trips form a key part of the summer programme, where a teacher accompanies students and are also given free time to enjoy the visit at their own leisure. Students may also take part in extracurricular activities organised at the centre: - Season of Spanish films. Some of the landmark films in Spanish cinema history are shown. - Music sessions: songs together with the latest trends in Spanish music. At the end of the course a special farewell is arranged where students are awarded a certificate and drink a Spanish toast together. Valladolid is considered as the birthplace of Castilian Spanish. It is located in central Spain, two hours by bus or train from Madrid. Much of our success is undoubtedly due to the group of highly qualified instructors. The University of Valladolid has 700 years of history and prestige An accommodation service offering a wide range of possibilities is available during the summer months: Alternatives include carefully chosen Spanish families, halls of residence and university apartments.
