Description: The SUNY Brockport Program at the University of Leiden is a one semester or full-year program offered in both the fall and spring semesters. This SUNY Overseas Academic Program provides the opportunity for undergraduates to spend a portion of their academic careers as students at this Dutch university.

The SUNY Brockport Leiden Program allows American undergraduates to become, for their semester or year of participation, actual University of Leiden undergraduates to attend the same classes, to live in the same housing, to participate in the same social, cultural, athletic, and academic extracurricular activities as their Dutch counterparts. This program seeks to fully integrate American students into this Dutch university for a semester or a year.

Highlights: Leiden University is known for the high quality of the education and research facilities provided. The University libraries contain 3 million books and periodicals, including a unique collection of old manuscripts and maps. The University also houses an elaborate collection of prints and drawings, and there is an extensive collection of plants and herbs in the botanical gardens and the national herbarium. An industrial Bio-Science Park is associated with Leiden University. Apart from the regular study programs, which are mainly Dutch spoken, Leiden University has educational programs, taught in English, which are specifically designed with foreign students in mind. Special programs have been designed for undergraduate students who wish to study in Leiden for a period of time, to broaden their horizons. Leiden is a picturesque town with 114,000 inhabitants, close to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. Public transport facilities are excellent. Since Leiden is a small town, all University buildings are within walking or cycling distance. Because of the safe environment and the individual approach, students tend to feel at home fairly quickly.
