Description: Abroadco's study abroad program Prague allows students to enroll in courses taught in English with other American, international and Czech students at the University of Economics. Students can explore the Czech Republics historic capital city, also known as the Golden City for its unparalleled architecture and art. They can also meet fellow students by living in a student dormitory, fully furnished with kitchenette, full bathroom and high-speed Internet.

Academics

Abroadco offers Academic Year, Semester and Summer sessions in Prague. Each class is 45 contact hours (3 semester credits).

Semester students take 4 or 5 electives. All courses are taught in English. While Abroadco does not require students to take Czech language classes, it is highly recommended. During orientation you will have an introductory, no-credit, Czechs language course.

Summer students take 1 elective, for 45 contact hours (3 semester credits).

Services

Abroadco's excellent student service begins the moment you contact us. We help you with every aspect of planning your experience, including course selection, travel planning, working with your home institution, and providing you with an orientation on living and studying abroad. When you arrive in Prague, our resident director will greet you at the airport and provide on site orientation during the first few days of your stay. Throughout your program, you'll enjoy Abroadcos many activities and excursions. Activities include visiting the museums, exploring the different arrondissements of the city, and sampling the famous cuisine at one of Prague's many bistros, restaurants, and cafes.

Housing and Meals

Students will live in shared rooms in a student residence hall. Each room has beds, a study areas, kitchenette, full bathroom, and high-speed Internet connection. The residence hall is approximately a 20-minute tram commute from the university.

Students can purchase lunch and dinner at the student cafeterias at the university or in the residence hall area. Hot meals usually include soup, main dish and drink.

Prague

Often referred to as "The Golden City", Prague is renowned for the art and architecture that sets it apart from other European destinations. The bridges, Gothic spires, baroque domes and cobbled streets create a medieval feel in the center of the city. The atmosphere in Prague has been the inspiration to many artists, musician and writers. Prague is a mixture of the old and new with a wealth of cultural treasures to offer you during your time abroad.

Theresienstadt
In Theresienstadt, students will explore the city that was once a concentration camp. During WWII, this city was turned into a concentration camp that was portrayed to the Red Cross as the model concentration camp. Clean facilities, art centers, theaters, and schools all played a part in creating an image to portray to the rest of the world.

Karlstein
Students visit a walled fortress from the 14th century. Karlstejn Castle is the most visited castle in the Czech Republic. The castle housed many of the royal treasures and holy relics. The castle itself is made up of many individual buildings, each one serving a different purpose, with the most impressive one being the Great Tower build on the hilltop.

Cesky Krumlov
Located in South Bohemia, Cesky Krumlov has recently been discovered by tourists as a "must see" of the Czech Republic. Activities in the city range from touring the medieval streets, meandering the halls of the 13th century castle or floating down the Vltava River on a tube or kayak.

Brno
In the Moravia region is Brno. The Moravia region is well known for wine-making and has yet to be inundated by tourists. Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, while large corporations are competing against local produce markets.

Hradec Kralave
Hradec Kralave is in East Bohemia with an interesting past. This city's name means "Queen's Castle" and it was used as holding place for royal widows who were unable to re-marry because of Catholic rules. Now, Hradec Kralave is welcome place for visitors to gain a little insight to Czech festivals. The city hosts many festivals and celebrations throughout the year.
