Description:
The program begins with a two week intensive Spanish course in Seville with local Spanish teachers. Candidates will then travel by train to Jerez de la Frontera to participate in 4 - hour per day internships in a school.Positions are available in teaching, administration and special education. Part of the application process is a screening phone interview to ensure that candidates are placed in the Sector that best corresponds to them. We can usually guarantee placement. The program is not competitive and we place year round, starting the first Monday of each month. Participation in this program will massively upgrade your Resume and provide the ability to become fluent in Spanish. All candidates have a Spanish Supervisor at their work assignments, plus an English-speaking Intern Advisor living in Seville. This is a fairly customized program and process, with anywhere from 3 to 10 candidates starting programs each month. Housing is your own room in a shared apartment or residencia (family stays are available - please ask for price differences)
Highlights:
** The amount of time you choose to intern is flexible, with program lengths ranging from 2 to 6 months ** This can be a non-academic or academic internship - you decide. All candidates who have sought to receive credit for this program have done so. ** Extensive Pre-Departure Orientation and counseling ** You will be met at the airport when you arrive in Seville, and taken directly to your apartment ** Program and city Orientation provided within the first 48 hours of arrival ** 2 weeks -- 4 hours per day -- of intensive Spanish language classes are included in the fee ** 2 - 3 excursions are included during your intensive Spanish coursework. Apart from these, we also organize events each month, which you are welcome to participate in -- some have a small fee, others are free. This program is meant to be 50% work experience and 50% cultural / language acquisition and immersion. ** Lodging is included. Live like a Spaniard in a shared apartment with other Adelante candidates or a local Spanish person in Seville, or with a teacher or family in Jerez de la Frontera. ** Internships are for 4 hours each day. You will gain real, international work experience to add to your resume. ** Internship assignment in the Education Sector. ** The Adelante Director in Seville is English speaking and is available to you for support, assistance and in many other ways should you need it.
Qualifications:
Program candidates should be 18 or older and possess a desire to learn about and live in another culture. Some Spanish is helpful although we can and do place beginner - beginners. Candidates should be enrolled in a University or have already graduated. Past internships are helpful.
