Description:
Experience British culture while studying abroad at the University of Westminster! This program allows students to directly enroll in university courses, in a variety of fields. With more than 22,000 students, the University of Westminster offers a huge choice of high quality classes, set within a diverse environment that is global and yet uniquely British - like London itself! Nearly 5000 international students (from over 150 countries) make Westminster one of the top 15 most popular UK universities for international students. The University of Westminster has four campuses - three in central London and one 20 minutes away in Harrow (northwest London). Whether in the very heart or the suburbs of London, each campus contains a set of architecturally distinctive buildings and has its own library, IT and catering facilities. Students at Westminster enjoy all the attractions of one of the most exhilarating cities in the world. Students studying at Westminster have different accommodations options: University Halls of Residence, privately rented accommodation, or a home stay with a family in London. With the University Halls of Residence, accommodation is in the form of single study bedrooms, in a range of University halls of residence across London. All the halls are self-catering with fully fitted shared kitchens and communal areas. A range of hot and cold meals is available at reasonable prices from the refectories and cafes in the University's teaching buildings. All the halls of residence have 24 hours security and resident tutors responsible for student welfare. They are all well served by public transport, and are all about half an hour's traveling time from the University campuses. Whichever hall students live in, they will have a chance to meet students from different disciplines, backgrounds and cultures. If students choose privately rented accommodation, Westminster provides students free advice along with information to assist in their search. London has a strong tradition of renting accommodation. With some research and preparation, suitable accommodation can be found. Types and styles vary, as do areas, which results in enormous rent differences. International students are sometimes asked to pay 6 months rent in advance if they cannot provide a UK based financial guarantor. A home stay offers students the opportunity to experience firsthand life in an English household.
Highlights:
During Orientation Week and throughout the semester, there will be a number of social events for students to participate in, including a welcome and a farewell party to bring together all study abroad students. There is also everything that the city of London has to offer, as well as the Students' Union, which arranges entertainment from quiz and theme nights to comedy and cabaret, and social spaces on every campus. The university also has its own sporting facilities, and there are numerous clubs and societies on campus. Students also have the opportunity for individual travel, and with its central location and good train and bus links, London is an excellent base from which to explore the rest of the UK and Europe.
