Arcadia Internship in Sydney, Australia

  Australia
  • Sydney:
  • Sydney

Term: Fall, Spring, Summer
Dates: Fall: Mid-July-Late-November; Spring: Early-February-Late-May; Summer: Mid-June-Mid-August

Description: Co-sponsored by UW-Madison, the Sydney Internship program by Arcadia University allows students to earn academic credit, enhance professional knowledge, and improve practical skills through a placement in one of Sydney's leading public institutions or commercial enterprises.

During the program, students intern three days per week and have class one day per week. Internship placements are available in a broad range of areas including business; social sciences; humanities; and the visual, fine and graphic arts. Students are able to choose internships to match their academic and professional goals/objectives. During the application process, internship coordinators will work closely with students in defining academic and professional ambitions, and will arrange a placement that best reflects these goals.

At the end of the program, students will have a deeper understanding of Australian culture; a clearer view of where their education, talents and interests can lead them; and a greater understanding of their place in the world.

Highlights: Semester Internship students live in Arcadia student flats (Regent Street Apartment Complex) in Central Sydney or in UniLodge.

Regent Street Apartment Complex is conveniently located near numerous bus routes and the Central Railway Stations. Most units house four students in two shared bedrooms and include two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, living area and laundry facilities. Students will need to provide their own bed linens. The building is equipped with security cameras, individually coded front door swipes and lift swipes.

UniLodge is a multi-story building that provides self-catered, studio accommodation for Sydney-area university students. Conveniently located between the University of Sydney and University of Technology Sydney, each unit features a shared bedroom, living room and bathroom. Residents are able to prepare their own meals in communal kitchen facilities on each floor or can take advantage of the numerous shops, restaurants and eateries nearby. Students will need to provide their own bed linens at UniLodge.

Students on the summer program will live in the above options or in other short-stay apartment-style accommodation in the Surry Hills neighborhood of Central Sydney.

Included in the program fee is one fully-subsidized, in-state excursion. During the semester, Arcadia's staff will plan excursions and activities designed to expand understanding of Australian culture and help students to reflect on the learning that is taking place outside the classroom.
