Description: Originally founded in 1975, Universidad Veritas has become one of the most highly recognized private universities in all of Latin America. Known for its appeal to international students, Veritas has a student body that is incredibly diverse, as students from all over the globe come to study and be immersed in the Spanish language. Amid the student population of 1,500, over 300 are international students.

Located in the eastern part of the city (in the Zapote district), Veritas is only ten minutes from the bustle of downtown San Jose. The university offers an excellent range of academic areas to study, as well as an abundance of extracurricular cultural activities. Its facilities feature all the modern amenities that a student spending a semester abroad would need, such as computer labs, bookshops, cafeterias, information centers, internet access, and a well-maintained library.

Highlights: As a study abroad student at Universidad Veritas, you will enroll in courses offered by the International Programs Center of the university. This means you will be offered a range of subjects from intensive Spanish (all levels) to Tropical Ecology to Business to Latin American design.

Three-month internships are available throughout Costa Rica for high-intermediate to advanced Spanish-language students (at least four university Spanish courses). Work in fields as diverse as tropical rainforest protection and business administration, in settings ranging from rural to urban. Internships include one month of intensive Spanish as a refresher.
