Session 1 starts in Italy in late May and includes two weeks in Europe followed by two weeks in South Africa. On the other hand, some students may prefer to enroll in Session 2 which starts with two weeks in South Africa in late June followed by two weeks in France and Italy. Session 1 starts in the dynamic city of Milan, the economic and financial center of Italy and world capital of fashion. Classes are held in the beautiful historic campus of the Catholic University of Milan, housed in the buildings of a 14th century monastery. There will be great professional visits to leading companies in fashion, advertising and electronics, as well as optional trips to Venice and Florence. Then the students travel with the professors to Frankfurt, the business and financial heart of Germany. Students will be able to visit the European Central Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the headquarters of Mercedes Benz (Daimler) in Stuttgart. From Germany it's on to beautiful Paris, the most visited city in the world and the heart of French culture, politics and business. In Paris there will be challenging classes and interesting visits to multinational companies and international organizations. Students will be able to visit the Louvre Museum, the Notre Dame cathedral and the Arc de Triomphe, as well as stroll along the banks of the Seine River and the Champs-Elysées. After France the group will travel to Barcelona with its gorgeous mountains, beaches, museums, and restaurants. In addition to its architectural and natural beauty Barcelona is a powerful center of industry and commerce with the largest port on the Mediterranean. From Barcelona the students fly to Johannesburg in order to arrive to South Africa one day before the start of the World Cup. The home base is the campus of the University of Pretoria. Students will have classes in the morning and a number of interesting professional visits in the afternoon. The program will enable students to learn a great deal about current conditions in Africa, the legacy of colonialism and apartheid, and the efforts underway to break out of underdevelopment. South Africa is a beautiful country with great natural resources and safari parks. It also has a very powerful business sector with world-class banks, breweries and mining companies. On the last day of the program, there will be a festive farewell dinner and diploma ceremony featuring traditional food and music. Session 2 starts with a week of classes and professional visits in Johannesburg and Pretoria from June 24th to the 30th. From there it's on to the beautiful coastal town of Port Elizabeth, home of the prestigious Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. After three days of activities in Port Elizabeth the program continues with four exciting days in Cape Town, a very popular South African destination, surrounded by mountains and the wine country district. In Cape Town we say good bye to the South African faculty and staff and the group flies to Paris! The European segment of the program features an unforgettable week in Paris with visits to UNESCO, OECD, Air France and other companies and the opportunity to visit London or Brussels during an optional weekend trip. From Paris the group travels to Italy with a stopover in Switzerland, to visit the United Nations and the World Trade Organization in Geneva! The final week of the program is based in elegant Milan, the financial and fashion capital of Italy, with classes at the historic campus of the Catholic University, visits to prominent international companies, and the option to visit Venice or Florence on the weekend.
