Description:
The SUNY Brockport Program at the University of Western Australia is a one semester or full-year program offered in both the fall and spring semesters. Designed primarily for upper-division (junior/senior year) students matriculated at American colleges and universities, this SUNY Overseas Academic Program provides the opportunity for undergraduates to spend a portion of their academic careers as students at this Australian university. The SUNY Brockport University of Western Australia Program allows American undergraduates to become, for their semester or year of participation, actual University of Western Australia undergraduates--to attend the same classes, to live in the same housing, to participate in the same social, cultural, athletic, and academic extra curricular activities as their Australian counterparts. This program seeks to fully integrate American students into this Australian university for a semester or a year. "SUNY Brockport study abroad programs are for students matriculated in the US only, US students only."
Highlights:
Established in 1911, the University of Western Australia (Perth) is the state's premier institution. Located only 6 kilometers from the CBD of Perth, the 60-hectare riverside campus, with its distinctive Mediterranean architecture has established itself as a unique landmark. Extensive gardens are registered as part of the Australian National Estate, and the University's art gallery, museums, theatres and sporting facilities are features of an exceptional campus. Situated on the banks of the Swan River, three miles from the center of Perth, the campus is among the most attractive in Australia. Teaching and research facilities are excellent, with modern, well-equipped lecture theaters and laboratories and access to extensive computing facilities. The library system is comprised of the main Reid Library and has more than a million publications and is linked to university libraries and other databases throughout the world. The Guild of Undergraduates provides services and develops activities for the campus community. It runs the Guild Shop and Student Social Club as well as the refectory, restaurant and snack bar. The Guild organizes student entertainment and provides facilities for a full range of social, cultural and sporting clubs and societies.
