Host University: Il Sillabo: Centro Culturale Per Stranieri, founded in 1996, offers quality Italian language, literature, culture, art history, studio art, archaeology and culinary arts education. Il Sillabo is accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, the Tuscany Region and CSN in Sweden, and a member of the Associazione delle Scuole di Italiano come Lingua Seconda. Student Life: San Giovani is a small 14th century medieval town with typical late Renaissance architecture. The town is situated in the heart of Tuscany on the Florence Rome train line, 30 minutes from Florence, Pisa and Arezzo, and 3 hours from Rome. Tuscany is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance, as Dante Alighieri, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli were all born here. Students live in furnished apartments in the center of San Giovanni. Study Tours: The program includes two study tours to Milan and Rome. Study tours integrate academic instruction with cultural activities and excursions. The weekend tour to Milanis hosted by the Nuova Accademia de Belle Arti (NABA), one of the top fashion design schools in Italy. The curriculum builds upon the early Italian art lectures covered in Tuscany and introduces the design culture of contemporary Italy. The week-long tour in Rome is hosted by the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA). Students visit major Roman landmarks and learn about the artistic styles and cultural importance of each location within a cultural context.
