Summer in Greece
Greece
Term: Summer
Dates: inquire for dates
Description:
Spend two weeks in Greece and enjoy exciting activities and excursions in May when the climate is at its best. Professor-guided tours include the Acropolis and the Theater of Dionysius where drama was invented, the ancient market place or Agora, the serene, the Temple of Zeus, and, of course, the world famous National Museum. Through out-of-town excursions, students will also visit Delphi, Mycenae, Corinth, and the amazingly well-preserved Theatre at Epidavros. Local staff and expert archaeologists from our academic hosts explain and interpret the sites, but students will also enjoy plenty of free time for their own personal excursions within Athens, such as climbing scenic Mount Lycavettos or relaxing at the seaside marinas. Classes are in the fields of English/Literature and International Studies with a focus on learning both inside and outside of the classroom. Students will live at a local Bed and Breakfast near the Acropolis in a beautiful neighborhood near a variety of markets, sidewalk cafes, outdoor cinemas, and archaeological sites. In addition, the Athens Center, (a 19th century Neo-Classical Mansion where classes will be held) is just a short journey down the road.
