Term: Summer, Throughout the year
Dates: until May
Description:
Why Choose Tuscania? Tuscania provides an authentic study abroad experience for serious students who are dedicated to immersion in Italian language and culture. By enrolling in a smaller program located in a quaint Italian town, students receive personalized attention, attend smaller classes, and have daily interaction with the community to create a close-knit educational environment.Tuscania is perfect for friends or couples who like to take life at a slower pace and wish to enroll in a study abroad program together. Students can enjoy a glass of wine, good food, and good conversation in a local restaurant while practicing Italian and learning local customs. Tuscania annually celebrates two prestigious international music and theater festivals. Students have the choice between a traditional semester long program or a year long Professional Study Certificate program.
Highlights:
The Tuscania program is geared towards humanities, social sciences, studio arts, media studies and Italian language. Except for Italian language, courses are taught in English. Many courses, in addition to the theoretical work in the classroom, will provide practical seminars with excursions and guided visits. The academic program and the courses are run by highly-skilled and experienced faculty. Most of the subjects will be centered on the territorial resources or connected to them: the Etruscan civilization in its various aspects, the artistic wealth of Tuscania during the different periods, and the gastronomic tradition of the Tuscan region. Thanks to the sponsorship of local authorities, and in collaboration with the University of Viterbo, students are able to actively participate in the cultural and social life of the region, thus reflecting the true spirit of study abroad. Credits are earned on the semester hour basis. A semester lasts 15 weeks. A credit requires 3 contact hours per week for Liberal Arts courses (45 total contact hours) and 6 contact hours per week for Studio Art courses (90 total contact hours). The distribution of that time between class activities (such as lectures, laboratories, field trips, etc.) and outside preparation varies from course to course. All the studio art courses have a number of open studio hours which vary from course to course. The regular semester load carries 12-16 credits. A semester load of 12 - 15/16 credits requires one course in Italian Language. Tuscania also offers a unique Professional Study Certificate program. Please contact us for details on the overview of the tentative schedule of courses offered for the Fall and Spring semesters. In the acceptance packet the student will receive the complete schedule including times, dates, and other information.
