Titled "Spain and Morocco: Historic, Artistic and Religious Crossroads, " the IES Abroad January Term Program in Granada, allows students to study the Moslem impact on Spain and spend a full week of the program in the Moroccan cities of Rabat and Fez, where many of the Spanish Moslems and Jews fled after the reconquista. Since 1950, IES Abroad has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES Abroad offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 80 programs throughout the world.
Highlights:
* A two-day orientation in Granada includes a guided tour of the city to help students quickly adapt to their new environment. * Students take one course--Spain and Morocco: Historic, Artistic and Religious Crossroads--that allows them to explore artistic, historic, and religious developments in southern Spain and how they influenced the development of Moroccan culture. * Homestays allow students to immerse themselves in local culture * Unique field trips bring students to Morocco, Cordoba, and several additional historic sites in southern Spain.
