University of Washington's Mission Statement: The Athens Programs in Greece offer students a chance to gain a classical education in a challenging yet fun academic environment while being immersed in the rich Greek culture. Few other places on earth offer such a mix of rich ancient past and dynamic present; the eye and mind are filled with deep-seated impressions. From beautiful beaches to stunning scenery, great food, a relaxed and comfortable lifestyle and serenity this is a land that enlivens the soul. Students experience the ancient culture and the dynamic new one in a close, personal way; yet, the goal of the program is to come away with a sense of having accomplished something for themselves and for the Greek community.
