Description:
The primary purpose of this program is to provide participants with the opportunity to examine and explore the historical and contemporary problems and possibilities of conflict, nationalism, the legacies of colonialism, globalizations and conflict resolution, firsthand within a Middle Eastern and European environment. Students will be living and studying in Cyprus, a politically, ethnically, and physically divided country that is both Middle Eastern and European.
Highlights:
Students will have the opportunity to travel extensively within Cyprus through participation in field trips that will include museum visits, exploration of ancient Roman ruins, the temple of the birthplace of Aphrodite, Othello's Tower, burial sites of victims from the violence of the 1970's, tours of the buffer zone, and meetings with numerous government officials.
