The Ancient City of Rome is a three-credit (undergraduate or graduate) study-travel course, which offers an introduction to the archaeology of the city of Rome, capital of a vast empire that stretched for thousands of miles over three continents and still the seat of the Catholic Church. Curriculum Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive three (3) Georgetown University undergraduate or graduate credits for the following course: CLSS-225-62: The Ancient City of Rome. Non-Georgetown students should discuss transfer of credit with a dean or academic adviser at their home university. The Program Directors are Dr. Josiah Osgood and Dr. Jessica Nitschke. Dr. Osgood holds a Ph.D. in Classics from Yale University and specializes in ancient history and literature. Dr. Nitschke holds a Ph.D. in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology from the University of California at Berkeley; she specializes in ancient history and archaeology.
Highlights:
Sites to be visited include the Forum, the Palatine, the Colosseum, the Baths of Caracalla, and the Vatican necropolis. Students will also study artifacts preserved in the city's splendid museums. There will be special field trips to examine Etruscan remains, the imperial port at Ostia, and also the emperor Hadrian's villa at Tivoli.

Cost Include Description:
This price includes tuition, admissions to archaeological sites and museums, hotel costs at double occupancy (single occupancy has an additional cost), and approximately half of all meals. Airfare to/from Italy, passport fees, and other individual expenses are not included in this cost.
