Description:
This program provides students with the opportunity to explore the unique evolutionary history of the flora and fauna of Australia,as well as the country's past and ongoing struggle with invasive species. This program is suggested for Biology, Environmental Studies, and Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology majors. Field experience enhances classroom instruction at James Cook University in Townsville, Queensland. During the third week of the course, students take a week long field excursion to sites near Cairns. Field sites include the Great Barrier Reef, Magnetic Island, and Paluma.

Emory University has offered high-quality summer study abroad experiences around the world for nearly forty years. These popular programs provide opportunities for you to study aspects of another country's culture and society in disciplines spanning the social sciences, the sciences, and the humanities. Emory's summer study abroad programs are planned and directed by Emory faculty, and generally the courses are also taught by Emory faculty. The courses are designed to take full advantage of the overseas setting in which they take place. Courses: All program participants take a total of eight Emory credit hours. BIO 341: Evolutionary Biology Description: 4 credit hours BIO/ENVS 349: Ecology of Invasions Description: 4 credit hours In addition Emory Summer Study Abroad programs, CIPA also provides opportunities for students to conduct research abroad and community service projects abroad during the summer. Eligibility Requirements: Minimum 3.0 GPA; BIO 141/142 or ENVS 131/132; good academic standing; at least 18 years of age; completion of a full year of college; and currently enrolled in a college/university.

Cost Include Description:
The total cost listed includes tuition for eight credit hours, room, partial board, insurance, cultural activities, and excursions. Students with a high level of financial need may qualify for a waiver of the USD 350 deposit; students should contact the summer study abroad coordinator for details.
