Description:
The mission of the program in International Relations and Politics is to give its graduates a solid knowledge of the theories and tools needed to analyze the international arena in general, while focusing on Latin America, its relations with the United States and with other countries and regions. Graduates will also be trained in the analysis of government and other political structures and institutions, the dynamics of political processes, and their effects on society. Program graduates will have a deep understanding of the interrelationship between the historical, political, economic, cultural, social, and ecological forces that are at work today in an ever-shrinking world. Students who complete this major will be well prepared for entry-level positions in fields such as public administration, civil service, diplomacy, journalism, international business and public relations. For those students who wish to directly pursue graduate studies in related areas, the major in International Relations and Politics will give these students a strong foundation that should enable them to succeed in advanced studies.
Highlights:
International Relations and Politics studies the most complex interactions between states, international institutions, and individuals. Those relations, according to the Catholic faith and the Magisterium of the Church, have their ultimate end and meaning in God who reveals Himself through the ages and above boundaries. The program holds these ideas and the unity of human knowledge, faith and reason, as basic tenets. While keeping in mind the transcendental meaning of states, societies, institutions, and individuals, the program offers the tools for analyzing the sources, processes, and outcomes of international relations in an increasingly interconnected world.
