Highlights:
Host Institution: The Scuola Internazionale di Grafica is a small, private visual arts and graphic design academy in Venice, Italy. The Scuola's annual enrollment is limited to 200 students - 80% of whom are Italian - thereby strengthening the cultural immersion of KEI students. Its international faculty consists of artists who lived, studied, worked and exhibited their art in museums and art galleries throughout the world. In addition to classes, students have access to the Scuola's studios outside of class. The Scuola's central location in the city center is ideal for studying Italian art and design as well as language and culture. Students live in furnished apartments located in the central historical district of Venice, 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco by foot, 15 minutes from the Scuola by vaporetto (water bus), and 2 minutes from the closest vaporetto stop. The Scuola is located in Campo San Marcuola, in the artistically and historically rich city center. Whenever possible, the visual arts, printmaking, book arts, Italian language, and culture studies programs make full use of the Venetian landscape and society. The Scuola's central location allows it a unique position between traditional and contemporary culture, and attracts art professionals and students from all over the world. The program includes extensive sightseeing and cultural excursions in Venice, the Veneto region of Italy, Florence, Rome, and Milan. Courses: The Venetian Art History Course is required of all KEI students. Semester students take up to 18 credits per term, and summer students can take up to 6 credits per month-long program.
