Description:
This 2-week study abroad program is offered in cooperation with The University of Memphis and designed for undergraduate and graduate nursing students interested in increasing their understanding of international health care issues as they relate to nursing practice and global health policy. The program is open to upper division undergraduate and graduate level nursing students from The University of Memphis and any accredited public or private university. All programs are taught in English!
Highlights:
* Transfer by private bus from the airport to your hotel in Geneva * 2 nights at a hotel in Geneva (shared rooms) * Public transportation pass for the entire stay in Geneva * Guided walking tour of Geneva in the afternoon * Welcome dinner at a restaurant in Geneva (La Potiniere preferred) * Visit to UNAIDS or the WHO (to be confirmed) in the morning * Visit to the International Council of Nurses in the early afternoon * Guided tour of the Red Crescent Museum in the late afternoon * Visit to the University Hospital of Freiburg center of Nursing Education * Afterwards, visit to the University Hospital of Freiburg (to be confirmed) * 6 nights (shared rooms) at the "Chateau de Pourtales" or at a hotel in Strasbourg * BBQ dinner at the Chateau de Pourtales * Visit to a hospital in Strasbourg, e.g. the University Hospital of Strasbourg (to be confirmed) in the morning * Guided tour of the Caracalla Spa in the spa town of Baden-Baden to learn more about their operations in the German health care sector * Guided tour along the famous Route du Vin including entrance to the Castle Haut Koenigsbour * Visit to an Alsatian winery including a wine tasting * Entrance to Albert Schweitzer Museum in his house in Gunsbach * Alsatian Tarte Flambée Dinner at a restaurant on the Route du Vin * Cycling tour through the Parc de Pourtales in the morning followed by a picnic * Guided city tour of Strasbourg by boat * Entrance to the Heidelberg Castle * Guided tour of the German Pharmacy Museum, which is located inside the castle * Lunch and visit to a mental health facility in Germany * TGV train ticket to Paris * 2 nights at a hotel in Paris (shared rooms) * Metro pass for the entire stay in Paris * Visit to a Paris Hospital with a tour of their Emergency Room, patient units and Trauma center (to be confirmed) * Guided tour of the Hospital Museum Musee de lAssistance Public-Hopitaux de Paris * Farewell Dinner at a restaurant in Paris

In addition to the application information, two letters of reference are required for admittance into the study abroad program. The letters should attest to your character and academic aptitude. Once this form is received, you will be sent additional forms to complete that deal primarily with medical and passport information.
