Pursue a Unique Opportunity
Unlike other Study Abroad programs offered by Widener Law, the Chonqing program is an exchange program that takes place during the fall semester. In consultation with the Office of Student Affairs, participating students will register to take classes at Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing, many of which are offered in English. The university provides housing for students participating in the program, although students are free to seek off-campus housing instead.

Highlights: Experience China
Located at the join of the Jialing and Yangtze Rivers, the city of Chongqing has a rich history dating back over two thousand years. Chongqing is one of only four Chinese cities to be considered a direct-controlled municipality, giving it equal political standing with the provinces. Rich in natural resources, the city has historically been a major inland trading port, and because of its strategic location, it is considered an integral part of China's Western Development Strategy.

Visit the beautiful Three Gorges area and enjoy the remarkable scenery or view the amazing Dazu Rock Carvings, ancient religious carvings and sculptures depicting Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist symbols and figures. In the city itself, you can visit the People's Liberation Monument or the city's zoo, which features a number of exotic, native animals such as giant pandas or the rare South China tiger. Imagine the unique opportunity to learn about China and further your legal education at the same time!
