Description:
An intersession, 3 credit cinema studies course in Paris, offered by the Division of Mass Communications, Journalism, Television and Film, in conjunction with the Department of Languages and Literatures. All course work conducted in English. The purpose of the program is to offer students a unique opportunity to experience a brief, yet intense submersion in French culture by studying classics of French cinema in Paris, one of the most important international locations in the world. The coursework will emphasize French dramatic structure, characterization, use of cinematic devices, and French cultural and political conflicts as expressed, and sometimes resolved, over time in popular film. The program will enhance the students' understanding of film as an art form, and of French society and its cultural relationship with the rest of the world.
