ISA is pleased to announce the launch of an innovative program in San Isidro de Peñas Blancas, Costa Rica, which will begin in Winter 2009. The Environmental Studies semester program will take place at the newly constructed Casa Verde Field Research Center, a secluded facility about 20 miles from the town of La Fortuna. This program offers students the opportunity to use the living laboratory of the rainforest as their classroom. Courses are taught in English by instructors from the Latin American University of Science and Technology (ULACIT) and focus on environmental science, ecology, sustainable development, and the natural sciences. Spanish Language in Context courses are also available at the beginning and intermediate levels. These courses maintain a special emphasis on the use of the Spanish language to discuss biology, ecology, nature, and the environment. No previous Spanish language experience is required.

San Isidro de Peñas Blancas is home to the new Casa Verde field station. This brand new, secluded facility is surrounded by waterfalls, hot springs and the unique flora and fauna of the Costa Rican rain forests. The facility provides striking wilderness surroundings in addition to the amenities necessary to maximize educational success. Experience the diversity that Costa Rica has to offer, and be a part of the nation's bustling capital city and the vibrant Tico lifestyle. Tour San Jose's Plaza de la Cultura, Teatro Nacional, and the Museo Nacional. Then acquaint yourself with the crafts of local artisans and sample Costa Rican cuisine at the Mercado Central.

Cost Include Description:
Program prices include tuition, housing in onsite dormitory bungalows, three meals per day, laundry services, ISA excursions, medical insurance, and extensive pre-departure and on-site student services.
