Description:
The Summer in Cyprus: International Relations program is designed for IR, Politics and other Social Sciences students who want to gain exposure to the complex geopolitical issues of the Eastern Mediterranean. Cyprus is a stable and accessible learning laboratory for students to explore current international issues such as the EU enlargement, Greco-Turkish relations, southeastern Mediterranean issues, the Middle East, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. You will take courses in Nicosia, the last divided capital in the world and participate in a series of cultural excursions and educational trips within Cyprus, including visits in both communities as well as the United Nations Forces in Cyprus.
Highlights:
- Nearly two months of immersion in Cyprus, a European country with a deep history, fascinating culture and hospitable people
- An integrated academic curriculum focused on international issues of Eastern Mediterranean taught by experienced faculty
- Extensive excursions throughout Cyprus to ancient castles, harbor towns, pine-scented mountains and crystal-clear beaches
- First-hand experience on one of the most complex IR issues of the past 40 years: the Cyprus problem
