Description:
Champlain College of Vermont offers students an international perspective and prepares them to be global professionals. Our courses fit across majors with a variety of liberal arts, professional and interdisciplinary options that provide students with an understanding of Canadian culture and perspectives and a more global understanding of self. Montreal is second only to Boston in student population density, is easily accessible via air and is less than an hours drive from the U.S. border in Vermont. Montreal offers the ambience of a European city, yet is just a few hours from major cities in the Northeast area of the U.S. as well as Ottawa and Toronto. The city sparkles with a vibrant nightlife, cultural events and festivals, boutiques, and exquisite cuisine. French is the dominant language, but English is spoken widely - yet another advantage for students emanating from the U.S.
Highlights:
The small, intimate academic setting features courses taught by our local Champlain College of Vermont faculty. Course offerings include a core of place-based general education courses such as history, literature and fine arts that make the most of the cultural and professional opportunities unique to Montréal. Professional program specific courses, such as gaming and graphic design, are taught by industry professionals - giving students unique insights into and connections within the industry. Typical Living Arrangements: Students are housed at University of Quebec a Montreal (UQAM) and will get a chance to enhance their cultural experiences by living among a group of international students. Accommodations are in multi-person suites with a full kitchen and individual bedrooms, and are only a 10-minute walk from the Academic Center. Application Process Involves: Champlain Abroads admission process ensures that all students selected to study at our Montréal campus are capable of performing at the same high academic standards as students at the home campus in Burlington, Vermont.
