Arcadia University: Spanish Language and Culture in Barcelona
Spain
Term: Summer
Description:
If you want to spend the summer in the very heart of one of Europe's most cosmopolitan and elegant cities, the Arcadia program in Barcelona may be just the place. The Barcelona Center for Education Abroad is an international study center located in the city center, just a short walk from the prestigious University of Barcelona. Through a cooperative agreement with the University of Barcelona (founded in 1451), students enrolled on the summer program will be enrolled in a Spanish language course (they will be placed according to their level of proficiency) and may choose one additional course from a variety of subjects for a total of 6 credits. Students at all levels of Spanish can be accommodated. Students with no prior Spanish study will have the option of taking classes in English combined with language study; intermediate-level students can take all coursework in Spanish or combine courses in Spanish with some courses in English. Both the University of Barcelona and the Barcelona Center for Education Abroad are situated in the bustling neighborhood of l'Eixample, home to many of Barcelona's most interesting attractions and intriguing architecture, including the Gaudí Museum and la Pedrera (named for its remarkable grey stone façade and colorful rooftop chimney pots), a classic example of Gaudí's eccentric genius. Credits: Courses may be selected among various departments. Students can take 3-6 credits. They may take Spanish language, one elective or both Spanish language and one elective. Admission Requirements: GPA Requirements: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation, and an advisor's form before your application will be considered.
