Nazareth College of Rochester, N.Y., and Studienforum Berlin offer a 15-credit, 16-week semester program in Germany's capital, taught in English. Starting in 2006, this program has become a semester program of the College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS). The program is open to all undergraduate students who want to acquire U.S. credit. The program includes tuition, room and board (two meals), an on-site student coordinator, cultural events and excursions. The program allows for the unique opportunity to observe the political, economic and cultural changes in Central Europe first-hand and to experience history in the making.
Highlights:
Students take five courses: three liberal arts courses (45 h each), taught in English; orientation and an introductory German language course; and a four-week unpaid internship permitting use of English, at corporations, public institutions such as museums, schools, think tanks, NGO's in Berlin (the internship may be substituted by a second language course). Accommodation and board is in homestays. The fall 2008 curriculum includes cross-listed courses: German History 1871 to the Present (history); European Business Economics (economics or business administration); 20th Century German Literature, Theater and Cabaret (literature or theater arts); Conflict Studies (political science, peace studies; and Symphonic Music and Opera, Mozart to Mahler (music history) Excursions and field trips in the Berlin area to sites of historical and cultural importance as well as excursions to sites outside of the Berlin area (e.g. to Dresden, Weimar, Prague) are an integral component of the program.

Program includes room (homestay) and two meals, tuition, cultural events and excursions, on-site student coordinator, learning material, placement test and final exam a at language school, pick-up service, a 'Welcome package' (including Public Transportation Pass, City Maps, telephone card, the Studienforum Berlin's Student Handbook 'Discover Berlin', several brochures etc.), sightseeing tours in Berlin/Potsdam, Weimar/Buchenwald, Dresden, Prague, organization of leisure and cultural activities (social gatherings, tickets for theatre, operas, concerts).
