Summer Study in Stirling

Description: If you're looking for a memorable and productive way to spend your summer, then the University of Stirling Summer Academic Program offers you the perfect solution. You'll study side-by-side with Scottish students, which will enable you to get a real flavor of Scottish higher education and campus life while earning up to 12 credits.

Courses may be selected among various departments. You will earn the following hours of credit.

    * one block: 6 credits.
    * two blocks: 9 or 12 credits

All courses offered during the University of Stirling Summer Academic Program are worth 3 semester hours of credit each. The program is offered for 4 or 8 weeks. The first 4-week block begins in mid-June and ends in mid-July. The second 4-week block begins in mid-July and runs through mid-August. Students who attend one block must take 2 courses for a total of 6 semester hours of credit. Students who attend both blocks for the full 8 weeks can earn either 9 or 12 semester hours of credit. Many of the courses incorporate British or Scottish themes including The British Media and Introduction to Scottish History, among others.

Summer Study in Stirling

Highlights: Outside of class, you'll be able to take full advantage of Stirling's excellent indoor and outdoor sports facilities, as well as its international-class swimming pool and nine-hole golf course.

You'll have access to the University's MacRobert Arts Centre, which houses a library, student center, shopping mall, bank, and restaurants. Additionally, you'll be invited to take advantage of performances and exhibitions at the Centre's theaters and art gallery.

A full orientation program is provided, which includes a campus tour, bus tour of Stirling and the surrounding area, as well as an introduction to library and computing facilities. In addition to the welcome and farewell events, a number of other social activities are planned, which ISS and other Stirling students will be invited to attend. There will even be a Scottish ceilidh so you can learn Scottish country dancing.

Finally, the University of Stirling is situated in an area of incomparable beauty. The University campus, which is built around a lake and 18th-century castle, sits on 350 acres of landscaped parkland. Additionally, you'll be within easy reach of the Trossachs, a magnificent area of lakes and mountains that served as the setting for the well-known Hollywood production Rob Roy. You'll be able to spend many enjoyable hours exploring the Past Participant Buttonregion's beautiful, rustic landscape with its craggy mountains, rocky valleys, peaceful lakes, and secluded forests.

Scholarships are Available. - Scholarships and Financial Aid are a major part of our commitment to access for all students. Arcadia offers more than 1.5 million dollars in scholarships annually in amounts from $500 to $2,000. A financial aid coordinator is also on-staff to provide help to students who require individual consortium agreements or need Arcadia to process federal financial aid for them.
