Studying for a semester at the University of Otago offers you the chance to live and learn in the heart of Dunedin, the city by the sea. It has white sand beaches, bush-clad hills, and tidal inlets. It is home to the shy Yellow-eyed penguin, and the world's only mainland breeding colony of the Royal Albatross. As a student at New Zealand's oldest (founded in 1869) university you will become part of a unique educational experience. Otago's campus and culture are a mixture of historic and modern, old and new. The campus itself is a short walk from the city's vibrant center. Otago is a known for its research in the medical, biomedical, biological and natural sciences, the liberal arts and law.

As a student at New Zealand's oldest (founded in 1869) university you will become part of a unique educational experience. Otago is a known for its research in the medical, biomedical, biological and natural sciences, the liberal arts and law. Its business school is AACSB accredited. Approximately 2500 international students from 80 countries study at Otago throughout the year, ensuring that many classes have students from around the world. Otago's academic year includes two semesters and a summer school. A normal course load at Otago is 3-4 classes or 'papers' as they are called per semester. This translates to approximately 12-16 U.S. credits.You will be able to choose subjects from across Otago's curriculum, including business, humanities, sciences, and health sciences, and attend classes alongside New Zealand students.
