Description:
ASA offers an exciting multi-city program that allows students the opportunity to study in three unique areas of Australia. Unlike traditional programs where you study at one university and only get to see one area of this vast continent, the ASA Australia Walkabout Program allows students to live and study in Melbourne, Perth, and Hobart over the course of the 4 months. The program also includes trips to Sydney, Rottnest Island, and other places of interest such as Nambung National Park, Port Arthur, and Healsville Sanctuary. College students who are independent, open-minded, and seeking a study abroad experience like no other will find everything that they are looking for in this program!
Highlights:
Melbourne was recently named the most livable city in the world, and it's easy to see why. Melbourne is a laid back city that still manages to keep up with fast-paced life. The city is surrounded by water, giving it a very open feel. While in Melbourne, students study at La Trobe University. La Trobe was established in 1967 and is now one of Australia's largest and most prestigious universities. The University has more than 26,000 students, including over 4,000 international students from over 90 countries. While in Perth, students study at Murdoch University, which has a student population of over 14,000, including 2,000 international students. Murdoch University is a dynamic, modern university with a national reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and student satisfaction. Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, which is famous for its brilliant blue skies, warm sunny climate and white sandy beaches. The lifestyle of its residents is relaxed and focuses on the outdoors. There is a mix of cafes, restaurants, and pubs in the city centre and there are wineries, beaches, and bushland within easy reach of the city. When you think of Tasmania you envision the Tasmania Devil and rugged countryside. Well, Hobart is nothing like that. It's a cosmopolitan city with art galleries, shops, cafes, and restaurants, that sits on the water. The University of Tasmania, which has about 18,000 students, is only a 10-minute walk from downtown. The University is well known for its reserach on the environment, wildlife, and history of Tasmania. Students will receive a unique "hands-on" experience as they participate in wilderness field trips that accompany their coursework.
