Spend your summer studying Irish culture in the beautiful coastal city of Limerick, Ireland. World Endeavors is proud to offer a unique program that provides insight on Irish life while placing students in the heart of the land of Eire. Students with or without Irish heritage who have an interest in cultural studies can choose from courses in Politics, History, and even Media Studies. What's more, Limerick is the perfect base from which to explore the rest of the island and even continental Europe. Join World Endeavors in Limerick this summer and make Ireland a part of your life forever after. Known for its friendly inhabitants and rolling green countryside, Ireland is becoming a world-class destination. Comprised of 26 counties, Ireland offers something for everyone. Limerick, situated on the western coast of this incredible island, is a city that is bustling with life and culture. Highlights:
Students can choose from 2 different summer sessions. The courses available depend on which session is chosen. Each session lasts for 4 weeks and is worth 3 credits. Participants may choose 1 course from the list of 4 available courses for their session. Please note that all courses are taught at the '300' (3rd year) level. Session 1: History Irish Life and Literature Visual Culture in Ireland 1400-1950 Political Science Ireland: From the Troubles to the Tiger Sociology Sociological Perspectives on Irish Society Session 2: History The Irish Diaspora and History of Family 1860-1922 Media Studies Screening Ireland: Ireland in Film and Television Communication and Culture: International Technical Writing The summer program in Irish Studies includes 3 exciting all-day guided excursions! These activities are provided so students can see more of the country and gain a deeper understanding of Irish culture and history. Examples of excursions include: *Tour of the city of Limerick *Tour of western Ireland *Trip to Dublin Students will also have the opportunity to use the University's excellent indoor and outdoor sporting facilities in their spare time.
