Your experience in Guatemala is carefully integrated to give you the maximum impact of an intensive cross-cultural, missions orientened discipleship program. You will gain the skills and world perspective required for todays disciples of Christ who want to make God's purpose of changing the world a focus of their education and for those who want to make an impact in the world right now.
Highlights:
Courses Students take 6 courses (18 credit hours): - Spanish 101 (TRU) - Spanish 102 (TWU) - Anthropology 101 (TWU) - Cross-Cultural Communications 302 (TWU) - Introduction to New Testament (PBI) - Missions and World Religions (TWU) Mission Trips: Students take three trips into remote parts of Guatemala to minister to the Guatemalan people and learn what it takes to plan and carry out cross-cultural ministry projects. We focus on children's ministry here we present the gospel in an exciting way that provides for lots of interaction and sharing the love of Jesus. Each year we have had numbers of children accept the Lord. We also help local missionaries reach out to the Guatemalan people through practical projects such as construction, painting and more. Ministry Sites: Students take every Friday out of the classroom and go to a ministry site around the Antigua area. They help other missionaries as they work with the Guatemalan people. Students have a choice of working in the medical area, teaching ESL, building houses for the poor, teaching in a Christian school, working with handicapped children or helping out in an orphanage. They also live 4 weeks with a Guatemalan family. Student Life Living in Community is one of the most rewarding parts of your six months in Guatemala and one of the most challenging. Students live on a two acre campus sharing dorm rooms (cabins with bunks) with 4or 5 teammates. This small group community living setting is ideal for making deep friendships and for discovering what you are made of. Teamwork is emphasized and students learn to put into practice what God is teaching them in their everyday lives. You will eat together, worship together, do chores together, minister togther and have all sorts of fun hanging out and being ... well... students.
