Description:
Choosing a study abroad program that fits your academic and personal needs can be challenging. For over 20 years, ISA have been helping students just like you to find the best, all-inclusive program to help them meet their study abroad goals. The World Awaits... Let ISA be your guide!
Highlights:
What's Included With an ISA Program? Tuition and Academic Credits Tuition at the host university is included in the program price. All classes are held at the host university and are taught by faculty from the host country. Students can earn 5 - 30 hours of credit depending upon the length of the program. An official transcript will be issued by the host university upon completion of the program. Books are included for some programs. Please refer to individual program sections to see if books are included for that particular program. On-Site Orientation Upon arrival students are given an on-site orientation where they are informed of academic schedules, safety information, detailed information on excursions and information on cell phones. These orientations are conducted by our resident directors, allowing students a chance to familiarize themselves with our directors even before they take their placement exams. Housing: ISA programs offer the following housing options to students: Homestay: Programs in Spain, France, and Latin America offer homestay accommodations. Homestays provide three meals a day (excluding ISA excursion days) and laundry service once a week for the official duration of the program. Lunch is not included on Argentina programs. Residence halls: Residencias and pensiones are available at some of our sites. Each residencia and pension is different; please contact ISA with specific questions. Students in England are housed in dormitories. Apartments: ISA Italy students are housed in apartments conveniently located near the schools. ISA is now offering apartment options for students in some Spanish cities starting in the fall of 2007. Please contact ISA for information about alternative housing options. Resident Directors ISA's full-time resident directors assist students with all aspects of their living and university experiences abroad. Working 9:00am -8:00pm during the week, on-site directors arrange excursions, weekly meetings, cultural activities, and much more. Most program sites have more than one on-site director. On-site ISA Office Most of our programs have offices on site. Students have free access to computers and internet. Most of our offices include wireless internet access as well. The on-site office offers both the students and parents a source of comfort and security while abroad and serves as a common meeting point for the students. This is also where students can pick up their mail. Here are a list of ISA office locations where wireless internet access is available: Argentina (Buenos Aires), Chile (Valparaiso), Costa Rica (San Jose), France (Paris), Italy (Rome and Florence), Mexico (Guanajuato and Xalapa) and Spain (Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, Malaga, Salamanca, Sevilla, and Valencia) Medical Insurance Medical insurance is provided during the official on-site period of the program. Extended insurance coverage is available for an additional fee. Cultural Activities In order to maximize cultural immersion, the ISA program staff develops unique cultural activities. These custom-designed activities invite students to experience the local color of their host city, while learning about the history and culture of their new surroundings. Speaking the native language with locals, tasting the regional cuisine, and partaking in the native traditions are just a few of the ways these cultural activities lead to full appreciation of the program city. Excursions Ground transportation, entrance fees, and guided tours are included on all ISA excursions. Hotel accommodations and breakfast are included on all overnight excursions. Excursions are not included on Intensive Month programs. Although most other programs do include excursions, some may have no excursions, or optional excursions provided at an extra cost. Please refer to the individual session information for details. Airport Reception Transportation is provided from the airport for students who arrive during the ISA-designated pick-up times. Return transportation to the airport is provided for those students who return on the final day of the program. Airport reception is not provided for Intensive Month programs. Tutoring Tutoring is offered to students participating on language acquisition programs. This service is arranged by the on-site directors and should be scheduled in advance. Cellular Phone The rental fee of a cell phone through Piccell Wireless is included in the cost of the ISA programs offered in England, Italy, France, Spain, Mexico, Chile and Argentina, if a student desires a cell phone while abroad in one of these countries. Phones may be obtained prior to departure through Piccell Wireless. Students are responsible for expenses incurred during their time abroad. Please contact Piccell for more details.
