Description:
This program offers students the opportunity to develop an understanding of contemporary Morocco, gain insight into Morocco's role in the Arab world and its ties to Europe, and to develop Arabic language skills at the beginning through advanced level. During the semester and academic year program, the majority of courses are taught at the Ecole Superieure de Direction et de Gestion. Courses are also taught by faculty from the Universite of Mohammed V and Institut Hassan II. During the semester, students take both Modern Standard Arabic language at their level and the CIEE core course, Contemporary Moroccan Society and Culture, which integrates a one-week field study trip to either Fez or Marrakech into its curriculum. Participants then choose two additional courses from a series of CIEE electives. A for-credit internship is available for academic year students in their second semester, and all students can participate on volunteer projects.
Highlights:
A three-day CIEE orientation focusing on cross-cultural adjustment and adaptation to life in Morocco, as well as a homestay option, allow students to immerse themselves in Moroccan and Arabic culture.

Students with a 2.75 GPA and two semesters of college-level Frence or Arabic are eligible for admission.
