A lively city with more than 250,000 inhabitants, Granada is perched between the dazzling white peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the glistening blue Mediterranean of the Costa del Sol. With its wide plains, high mountains and sunny coastline, Andalucia boasts some of the most picturesque scenery in Spain. Students see some of the most beautiful and intricate buildings of the medieval world in Andalucia. AIFS students take courses at the University of Granada in business Spanish, Spanish culture and civilization, Spanish language, art, geography, history, literature and sociology. Students can choose between the 4-week and 6-week programs. AIFS program fees include the basics and the extras: tuition, housing, meals, London visit, excursions and cultural activities, airfare if selected, visit to Seville and Córdoba, and more.
Highlights:
Founded by Emperor Charles V in 1526, the University of Granada is one of the most prestigious universities in Spain. AIFS students may request to live in a Spanish homestay or to live among other Spanish and international students at a student residence hall. The AIFS Resident Director plans a wide range of excursions and cultural activities. Transportation, accommodations (when applicable), tour guides and entrances to monuments and some meals are included with the program. Activities planned for June are: a welcome party, a tour of the Alhambra palace and Generalife Gardens, Albaicin district, an overnight trip to Seville and Córdoba, Costa del Sol, tour of the Cathedral and Royal Chapel, the "Granada of the poet Garcia Lorca" and a good-bye party with Flamenco Show and tapas. Six week students enjoy a day in the Sierra Nevada mountains horseback riding and a goodbye fiesta with tapas.
