Paris is one of the best-known cities in the world and is home to countless historical monuments and museums. Enjoy cafes and restaurants throughout the city with your AIFS meal allowance. Explore France's artistic and architectural heritage with visits to world-class museums like the Louvre, d'Orsay and Pompidou Centre, and monuments like the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame. AIFS students attend courses at the Cours de Civilisation Francaise de la Sorbonne. Courses are taught in French language, civilization and art history, plus optional wine tasting, cuisine and fashion classes at other institutions. AIFS fees include the basics and the extras: tuition, housing in studio apartments, optional meal plans, cultural activities, optional visits to Mt. St. Michel and the Loire Valley, round trip airfare if selected, services of an on-site Resident Director, and more.
Highlights:
AIFS students live in twin-bedded private studio apartments in Citadines Apartment Hotel and receive a meal allowance. The semester begins with a 2-day London visit, and students have optional excursions to St. Malo and Mt. St. Michel, as wel as the Loire Valley. A wide variety of social and cultural events organized by the AIFS staff are included in the fee. Events in the past have included walking tours of the Marais district, Montmartre, The Conciergerie,(where Marie Antoinette was held during the revolution), the Sainte Chapelle, Père Lachaise cemetery (where Jim Morrison is buried), the Catacombs and the Latin Quarter; visits to the Hôtel de Ville, Rodin Museum, Paris Opera area and Perfume Museum; a Bateaux Mouches trip along the Seine River; day trips to Giverny, Chartres, Chateaux of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Versailles. Students will also be offered the chance to participate in a Da Vinci Code walking tour around central Paris to discover some of the monuments and districts described in Dan Brown's bestselling book.
