Term: Summer
Dates: June

Description: As the world's second largest economy and a major trading partner of the U.S. and the E.U., China has taken a leading role in international business and politics. With the upcoming 2008 Olympics in Beijing and Shanghai's preparations for the 2010 World Expo, the pace of change is fast, yet much history remains. There has never been a better time to spend a summer studying abroad with AIFS China. AIFS students take courses through Beijing Language and Culture University, Nanjing University, and the College of International Finance and Trade of Shanghai International Studies University.

The program fees include the basics and the extras: tuition, accommodations in student residences and tourist class hotels, some meals, round trip airfare if selected, cultural activities and excursions, and the services of a pre-departure Student Advisory Center.

Highlights: Students study in Beijing (7 nights), Xian (1 night), Nanjing (7 nights), Hangzhou (3 nights), Shanghai (8 nights), and reside in student residences and tourist class hotels with several meals included. Courses are taught by an American professor experienced in Chinese culture, supported by guest lecturers from Chinese universities. Students visit the Great Wall of China, Xian and Suzhou, and participate in a number of cultural activities.
