This program is designed to expose postgraduate students to an innovative set of methodologies for conducting advanced research in China studies. Covering both qualitative and quantitative techniques, the course will offer graduate students a unique opportunity to meet leading scholars in their area, to develop professional networks and to broaden their set of research skills through a series of field trips in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Pearl River Delta. Students will be exposed to a wide range of China topics from within the social sciences, humanities and economic disciplines. At the end of the program, a postgraduate conference on Greater China will be held to provide an opportunity for course participants as well as other postgraduate students to present their research and receive constructive feedback. Students will also hear from leading scholars in the field about career options and publication strategies. Topics Covered: * Business and Economics with Chinese Characteristics * China's Foreign Relations * Chinese Historiography * Chinese Workers and Diaspora Networks * Family Enterprises * Human Capital and Chinese Spaces * Minority Issues in China * Oral History of Chinese Peoples * Taiwanese Business Studies * Social and Public Policy * Survey Techniques
Highlights:
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the program, however, there is no examination or grade/transcript for the program. Instruction is in English.

Program Fees are in US dollars and include tuition, accommodation, overseas health coverage, introductory survival language training, student consultation sessions and pre-trip services such as: orientation materials, visa-processing service and fee, personal advising, subject selections, liaison with your home university, financial aid services, and alumni support.
