Sustainability in Scandinavia

Term: Summer 

Description: Denmark is well known for its commitment to areas such as alternative energy, energy conservation, public transportation, urban planning, and ecologically and socially sustainable architectural design. Through coursework and hands-on field visits around Scandinavia, the program offers a broad understanding of the links and tensions between environmental challenges and sustainable solutions, and a Scandinavian perspective on best practices within urban development and transportation, alternative energy sources and energy conservation, and waste management.

Prerequisites: General DIS prerequisites

Core Courses: "Managing Sustainability: Scandinavian Case Studies (Session 1) and "Sustainable Technology and Culture: Responses to Climate Change" (Session 2)

Highlights: The program includes a three day study tour in Sweden (companies, NGOs, power plants, and regional authorities) during the first session and a five day tour to Denmark and Norway (windmills, sustainable communities, and production sites) during the second session.

Degree Level: Bachelors Degree (Undergraduate)

Minimum Education: High School
