Description:
The Modern European Art course are designed for students majoring in the humanities. They introduce you to European and Scandinavian art from Impressionism, Expressionism and Cubism to contemporary art, highlighting major developments within their cultural context. Through a combination of coursework and multiple hands-on study visits to premier art museums and galleries, the courses will familiarize you both with the schools art themselves and with how they relate to the surrounding society. Prerequisites: General DIS prerequisites Core Courses: "European Modernism: Representation, Imagination, Abstraction" (Session 1) and "Modern Art and Artists in Scandinavia" (Session 2)
Highlights:
The program includes a one-week study tour to London & Paris (art museums and galleries, plus cultural-historical sites) during the first session and a one-week study tour in Norway & Sweden (art museums and galleries, plus cultural-historical sites) during the second session.
