Description:
This study tour will expose students to ancient Greek mythology through readings and first-hand experience in the region that gave rise to the myths. The program will visit numerous ancient Greek sites and museums located on the Greek and west Turkish mainland and on several Greek islands. These provide familiarity with the land and established icons of ancient Greek art, architecture, and engineering and with the related concepts of landscape and aesthetics.
Highlights:
This program divides its time between the Greek and Turkish mainland and the Greek islands. Along the way, students will visit historic sites such as the Acropolis, Agora, the world-famous sanctuary to Apollo at Delphi and Agamemnon's impressive mountain-fortified palace at Mycenae. Students will also experience the natural beauty of the region.
