The Shanghai program combines learning through formal academic coursework and direct personal experience gained through visits to sites of historical and cultural interest, tours, and an integrated living experience on campus. Academically, this program offers you a high-quality educational experience with an introduction to the economic and business environment of China and East Asia. While learning the Chinese language and business logistics during the week, you will be able to take in dozens of art exhibitions, sport competitions, movies, museums, musical events, nightclubs, and more. There are two options for combining courses from the following subject areas: International Business and Intensive Chinese language. The first option is to concentrate on International Business and take Elementary Chinese I in order to learn basic communication skills while in Shanghai. The second option is to concentrate on intensive language by enrolling in one of the intensive language tracks that allow you the opportunity to complete one and a half years of Chinese language coursework in just one semester. All students will be required to enroll in one Chinese language course and The China Phenomenon in order to assimilate them more effectively into their living and learning environment.
Highlights:
An integrated campus life helps you assimilate into Chinese society and culture and enhances the academic value of the program. You will experience residential student life on campus with its wealth of offerings: sports, student clubs (film, theater, music, conservation, etc.), and other campus activities.
