Italy
Term: Fall, Spring
Dates: Fall: early September - mid-December; Spring: early January - late April
Description:
After 2800 years, the Eternal City of Rome continues to impress. Boasting a dazzling assortment of splendors from the ancient empire, the Renaissance, and the Baroque period, Rome fuses past and present to emerge as a thoroughly modern European city. Roman citizens have a love for their city that transcends bravado and comparisons: for them, the ancient buildings and crowded piazzas are an integral part of their way of life. Picture yourself living and learning in the midst of this historic city which offers so many exciting places to explore and visit. The Pantheon Institute offers an innovative academic program that provides its students with several curricular options. Students enrolled in the General Studies Program take an intensive Italian language and culture course in addition to other elective courses. Students interested in a more challenging academic experience can take advantage of Independent Research opportunities and Honors courses.

The Institute's faculty consists of experts from American, Italian, and European universities - all dynamic professors who engage and challenge students to make their time abroad an intellectual, as well as cultural, experience. Students frequently learn on-site with professors, an unparalleled opportunity in a city like Rome: imagine archeology lectures in the Roman Forum surrounded by ancient ruins, or studying art history under the ceiling of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. In addition, the Institute maintains connections with The Vatican, the Italian Parliament and other institutions to give students a closer look at Italian life. The Pantheon Institute is recognized by the Ministry of Education in Italy, and accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) through its partnership with Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut.
