Study / Internship Program at University of Cape Town, South Africa
South Africa
- Cape Town:
Cape Town (Kaapstad)
Term: Fall, Spring
Dates: Fall, Spring Semesters
Description:
Connect-123's Social Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Cape Town provides a hands-on, one-of-a-kind experience in the challenges of entrepreneurship as well as the special opportunities present in emerging markets. The Program is open to students from all disciplines and includes a substantial fieldwork component, where students work side-by-side with local social entrepreneurs, blending experiential and classroom-based learning. International students are required to take the core course, Building Emerging Enterprises, plus two electives from the UCT course handbook. Courses are taught by UCT faculty and students receive a transcript from UCT, which is one of Africa's leading teaching and research institutions, with the University recommending 16 transfer credits for the semester-long experience.
Highlights:
Cape Town is rated as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and for good reason: few cities are home to white sandy beaches, scenic hiking trails, spectacular ocean views, and a 1,086 meter flat-top mountain! Cape Town is also a city of sharp contrasts, where students can explore issues of social change and diversity and learn about new cultures. For our Social Entrepreneurship program participants, South Africa offers the ideal backdrop to learning about emerging markets, innovative thinking and effective leadership. Connect-123 offers a wide range of activities to help students get the most out of their time in this vibrant and unique country.
